McCook house in Carroll County

The McCook house in Carrollton, OH.

During the American Civil War, Ohio played a key roll in supplying men and supplies to Union Army.

At the time, Ohio was third in population and sent nearly 320,000 of her sons in battle with 7,000 being killed in action.

Ohio claimed a number of top generals as her native sons. Ulysses S. Grant, William T. Sherman, George Armstrong Custer and Phillip H. Sheridan.

Plus the fighting McCooks from Carrollton OH.

Also, I am a sports writer and photographer by trade, but have always had a love for the American Civil War since I was a child. I hope you find this blog interesting.
